Hells yes Mar. 6th, 2008 @ 03:44 pm
Okay then,

So it's a long story, so I'll make it semi breif.

I applied to SDSU School of Music and Dance a MONTH late - which took about 3 days, 7 hours a pop. Long story short, I GOT ACCEPTED!

Ah yes, and I am now the section leader of the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps.

I'm very excited :-)

Car problems? Try Car Curse Jan. 5th, 2008 @ 07:07 pm
I would love to use expletives in the message below, but I think I'll stay away from the profanity. Mind you, I will most likely curse anyways :-P

As most of you don't know (and this is assuming anyone still reads this), I got a free '93 Ford Escort from my dad in December of '06. I did not listen to the big ass light in my face that said to add water or radiator fluid, so on September 15th (Kasie's birthday), I put a crack in the head and that car no longer runs.

So what did I do?

Kasie and I borrowed her parents other car for a month or so while I looked for a new car. Luck would have it, a buddy of mine was selling a '99 Subaru Legacy in great shape. Of course I bought it, and of course I broke it. That's right, I was trying to postpone adding oil because I was due for an oil change; they would fill all the fluids. Let's just say that a rod knock led to a busted up motor that aint gonna be drivin' any time soon.

So what did I do?

My '80 Trans Am has been sitting for about a year by this time, and I didn't want to ask Kasie's parents (or anyone for that matter) if I could borrow their car until I buy a new motor and get it installed. I decided that I would put a new battery in the TA and if it fired up, I would drive it until my motor purchase. Well hey, it worked! I put new spark plugs, new back end shocks, and more fluids. On the way home from work today, I was on the round-a-bout on-ramp -- following all speed laws by the way -- and half way down WHOOSH, my front left tire starts wobbling. I immediately vere off the road, but by the time I moved over, the front end fell forward and all I hear is skidding and screeching. I got out to see that two studs had broken off, the other three were stripped, but hey, the tire had wedged itself into the wheel well, so at least I didn't lose it.

So what did I do?

Called a tow truck, called in to both my jobs, called Kasie, called my awe-stricken parents, called some car-part-connections, and damn it, I'm ready for dinner.

Calm Down Self Oct. 24th, 2007 @ 12:23 pm
There is no  doubt finances are getting better, but I am getting more restless at the same time. I see so many things around me that I wish to do, that I feel willing to drop work to do it! What I must realize is that one day off leads to more days off; one hour leads to many hours. Days not working means paying money to not work. When I went to my cousins wedding, I was surprised at my next paycheck and how low it way. Well... I basically paid $150 to take two days off.

Anyways, I went to band today after a month of not being there. It was great to be back and watch their highly improved performance, but I wasn't as integrated into the system/program as I used to be, so I felt a bit as an outsider. Oh well -- I'm the one who put myself in a financial position which requires me to work these two jobs. I hope I can somehow get the 17th of Nov off so I can attend the last band review.

I am determined to get my finances in order by the time December rolls around. This will be the only way that I can join Mandarins and finally be in a Drum and Bugle Corps; a goal of mine for a very long time now. If I don't join this year, there may be no hope of accomplishing this dream of mine. Yes, it is a dream; a goal; a reason why I practice at all. Auditions for transfer colleges are coming up in the spring, and I MUST BE PREPARED! Anyone who knows me knows that I love music and trumpet, and this is something that I truly want in my life.

Oi, but enough about all that eh? I mean, I'm at school right now, typing away, just thinking about how life is going and glad that I'm not scah-rewed with money. I am hungry though... grilled cheese time.

missing out... when I don't have to Oct. 20th, 2007 @ 11:28 pm
Working 55 hours can get to you. Going to school full time hits hard. And hearing about the band that you began the year helping out so much, and not being able to partake in their dedication, is saddening and frustrating. Mandarins auditions are approaching, and I've put music, band, and trumpet last on my priority list. I haven't played more than one or two games in softball, and they're going to be going to the playoffs next week.

I WANT TO BE A PART OF EVERYTHING I HAVE GIVEN UP!

Band is doing so well, softball is going great, my chops are waning, and I'm sitting here, working two jobs @ 55 hrs a week and sleeping in before school.

Who says I can't do this? I don't need these hours anymore; drop a couple days of work and start going to Union Mine in the mornings; play softball these next couple weeks; practice when I wake up in the morning! I can do this, yet I have chosen not to. Well I can't bear to hear how great band is doing when I can't watch them perform from the sidelines, I can't stand missing games for softball as playoffs approach, and I sure as hell can't sit here and let my chops die away when I'm a music major, AND AUDITIONS FOR DRUM AND BUGLE CORPS AS WELL AS A TRANSFER COLLEGE APPROACH!

After 55 stiffening hours of work a week, I have no memories to show for it. I hear about what I want to be a part of and long to be there. I've never been in a drum and bugle corps. Why would I ever, in my right mind, allow this year to slip through my fingers?

How about this:

Every morning, wake up early so that I can get in a half hour of practicing my trumpet in; I have a silencing mute.
Every week, get to Union Mine and help out as much as I can, especially since the marching season is near close.
These next two Sundays, play some softball.

There are two more UM band competitions, and Mandarin auditions are in the first weekend in December.

wow, looking back Sep. 13th, 2007 @ 11:12 am
I just looked back at some of my earlier journal entries beginning in Colorado. It's so cool. I vividly remember all the things that happened in them. How fun. I'll have to do that more often. Oh yeah, and I think I'm going to take a note from my Grandma G. and print them out, then put them in a book of some sort, you know? I think that'd be cool.

» A cold, fall morning
Now I'm going to tell you why I love doing band so much, and look forward to being in a drum and bugle corps. I really miss being in a uniform, on a cold fall morning, before the sun comes up, blowing air into my horn and thinking over our music; waiting for the opening whistle before we begin our march; standing in a circle as we belt out our field show while visualizing where we'll be on the field; standing on the field in attention waiting for our drum major to salute and give us a horns up; playing every note as perfect as possible while keeping our bodies at attention.

Every time I see a cold fall morning, I get those flashbacks of everything I just mentioned. Just it being cold brings me back great memories. The second time I was in Colorado, as I was checking into my dorm, that fall was windy, rainy, and chilly. It was the beginning of the funnest year I had ever had; significant as well. It's interesting how I can miss walking to an exam at 6pm, or riding my bike for 30 minutes in the bumpy snow (uphill both ways... not even kidding) to get to church on Sundays. I comPLETELY miss Colorado; my friends, the school, the classrooms, work study, the cafeteria, Sigma Nu, Circle K, walking around downtown Golden at 3 in the morning just thinking about anything, marching through the snow and watching random people (including myself) slip on ice while going downhill to the gym. Oh wow, there was a guy on a bike one morning who was flying down the hill by Morgan Hall, taking a left at the corner, who hit a patch of ice and straight up biffed it. Bike slid out from underneath him, he flew forward, and I believe his feet pulled the bike with him, but they slid for a good 8 feet (he was ok).
And why was my dorm room the most comfortable room and bed I've ever had in my life? I remember being able to lay down and !boom! I was asleep. It could have been because I never went to bed at a decent hour, but that's besides the point ;-P.

Now that it's fall and I can see fog hovering through the streets, I think about all these great memories. They all had a time and place; marching band was in high school - I won't be going back any time soon (lol); Colorado is a great place, but I won't be a music major at an engineering school. But I do think about how I can have these "things" back into my life. Well, I could visit Colorado and say hi to everyone there and hang out in Golden, and also transfer to a university next year (applications begin in October). I can help UM band every week and go to the football games and competitions, and also join a drum and bugle corps. You see, I know what I want. I know what I need. And I know how to get them. But I can't have everything. Unless I get some things straightened out, I'm not going to be helping out band any time soon (for a few months right now). And I'm not going to be requesting off weekends and even weeks off to be in a corps. I might be able to make a few football games at the end of the season, and if I stay on it, I can help at the Christmas parade. My goal is to be on the right track once Mandarin tryouts begin. If I can get things in order by the time late November/December rolls around, I can still do Drum and Bugle Corps this year.
» Statement
Well, I've done it. I've put myself in a financial position where I am forced to concentrate ONLY on school and work. Anything extra-cirricular is not on my priority list, and "going out" is now put on hold. I can't afford the gas, nor the time, to overextend myself. I need to mature up and put into action new spending habits (and saving), time management, and ultimately my main priorities and goals (short term & long term).

I've got projects to do, books to read, papers to write, college apps to complete, auditions to prepare, and money to make.

Oh yes, and if I ever in my whole life stop biting my nails -- what a great morale booster that will be.
» Old Navy
Well I had my first day at Old Navy today... all the orientation videos and paperwork. HOLY HELL it was boring. Like, at InNOut they at least gave you a burger and sat you down with in depth videos and packets. I dunno, the manager chick hadn't read all of the packet material, and basically just left us there as she went on her lunch. Once she got back, we went over a few more things, but she didn't have all the answers, if you will. It seemed highly unprofessional until the higher manager arrived. They have brand new upper management, so we'll see how it goes. It'll be interesting because unlike fast-paced-food-filled-INO, this is more slow-paced-clothes-folding-OldNavy.
Tomorrow I'll have a long day. ON 8-4pm then INO 5-8:30pm.

OH-HO! By the way, school is going fantastic. I don't remember if I gave you the professor low down, but here's the short version:
Anthropology -- Dr. Rush: hates "monotheism" and though he is educated, the constant slams against the bible["monotheists"] in the way that he does it makes it hard to keep your cool
Political Science -- Reese: very cool, non partisan, proud of the country he lives in, "GO OUT AND VOTE!" All in all, a good class. And did I mention he knows jazz artists like Dizzy, Miles, and Sandoval?
English -- Tsuboi: Seriously now, the coolest profesora ever. A black chick, pretty young, and a great sense of humor. I really enjoy this class.
Communications -- Dr. Knutson: Very very cool old guy, knows his stuff, and great sense of humor.

So yeah, school is fun, work is goin, and umhs band is going well too.

If you check the links, you can see that a plane crashed in Placerville right by FLC--El Dorado Center as well as the Cameron Park Airport right next to my house. Let's not mention that on my way home around 5:20pm, there was a car crash on Cameron Park Dr. right next to where the plane crashed (possibly a rubber necker who wasn't paying attention to the road). Oh yeah, and we can't forget that when I finally got home, a sheriff pulled over an older red Chevy SUV RIGHT OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT PATIO!

Hah! And I took some pictures. There's one of the car crash, and two of the arrest HERE:

» High G baby... It's paying off
Ok, so I'm gonna go over a lot with little detail. I haven't been on here in soo long, yet so much has happened.

First off, my summer league softball team got second place! We had a hell of a championship game, but going from last (in our first season) to second place is one hell of a great accomplishment. We're beginning the Fall season now, and we've already won our first game :-).

Ah, and DCI Finals in Pasadena on Aug 11th were FANTASTIC!!! I couldn't have wished for a better experience, nor a better outcome. We were there in our Blue Devils shirts cheering them on, and sure enough, WINGED VICTORY PREVAILED!!!! Very exciting.

Now onto my events of today. I woke up around 10 and began playing my trumpet off the bat. After going over some warm ups from Mandarins, I looked at the audition music and decided to do a chromatic rise from low C to a high G. I have never truly hit a high G, so I was very surprised to find myself slammin that high G! After playing way too much (hey, I was excited to hit it), I nearly blew out my lips... but not before I got it recorded on my phone!

THEN!!! I get a call fro the school district's office saying I need to fill out some paperwork because I'm going to be an official brass coach for the band! HAHAH!!! I'm way excited. And after picking up the forms, I was reminded that the band's first Tuesday night practice was TONIGHT! Woo Hoo! Way excited. So I chilled at my parents house until 5pm when I helped a couple trumpet players with their music. I then met the new percussion coach (Phillip... awesome dude. He was in Mandarins... very good), and voila - we began our field show rehearsal. The brass was very well behaved, and we got a lot of charting done!

I'm very excited for this season, and oh yeah, did I mention that I'll be auditioning for Mandarins, Santa Clara Vanguard, and the Blue Devils this year? Oh yeah...
» Friday Five

The Friday Five ~
1. If you were a fruit, which would you be and why?
I would be a mango... because mangos are really good and one of my favorite fruits.

2. If you wake up and smell smoke, and you have to get everybody (pets included) out of the house safely, but you have time to grab one item, what would you grab?
Honestly, if it were my apartment right now... I'd grab Kasie's pound puppy. It represents her memories and much of her childhood - and as much as I'd like to say trumpet, you can always buy another instrument, but you can't buy your childhood stuffed animal.

3. If you were stuck on an island, who would be the one person you would want with you and why?
Kasie of course. She's my best friend and fiance - no one would be better.

4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?
Get rid of one of my cowlicks because I have two and my hair always makes a mohawk because of it... and it bugs me.

5. If you could spend the day with one famous person, dead or alive, who would you choose?
I would choose Jesus because I'd have a lot of questions for him.

-------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so it's not Friday, but honestly, who cares. I'll just say that I've had a horrible day and leave it at that. Perhaps the future holds more light...
» Bad Hwy 50 Accident
Well, if you live in California, especially northern, you definitely heard about the bad event that took place today. I'll get into that, but just wanted to say FIRST that band camp is going very nicely. For some reason, a few of the upper classmen are saying it isn't as fun as before, and too much work. Boo hoo you wussies. My senior year, we pushed everyone 9-3 or 9-5 with the first half of the day straight up marching, standing in the sun, and working them to the bone. So why would they all of the sudden complain when it's only 9-2? Allison has it all under control, and the new drum major is kicking some major bootay as well.

Ok ok, so I'm talking about band stuff. I'm a music major, kiss my ... I'm glad to know that the trumpet section (so far anyways) is ready to step it up and improve their musicianship. The upperclassmen, especially, are set on building their chops and really biting down this year. I am extremely excited to help the brass out as much as I can this year. Last season, I wasn't there as much as I could have been -- though i didn't do as much of anything I was involved with. This season, I will be helping the marching band (primarily brass) and the jazz band every Monday and Wednesday morning. Add on every Tuesday night practice, plus football games, and all competitions. This will be a good season.

Alrighty, so Richard came by to buy me food since he was near Union Mine during lunch. We went to Togo's, but on our way back, we saw that there were tons of CHP with their sirens flying all over the freeway. Next thing we know, we're getting off on Missouri Flat Road and I see TONS of cop cars - some from Rancho - all around a white car with a huge hole in the wind shield and a massive dent in the hood. We thought it was a high speed chase and perhaps the guy hit something and flew through the wind shield. Oh no, it was way worse. It was a high speed chase on some druggie, and by Ponderosa Rd, one of the officers threw out the spikes. The guy swerved right at the officer, hit him, and continued driving until apprehended; I saw where the car had hit the officer, who died a few hours after.

The affect on traffic has been ridiculous. They've shut down East Bound 50 from Ponderosa Rd to Mother Ld since it happened, and have kept it closed (therefore backed up traffic). Kasie got off work at 4:45pm in Folsom, and even by taking back roads, she got home at 6:30pm.
On a lighter note, tomorrow will be way cool. I've been working clean up, so I don't get to band camp until 10:30-11, but I look forward to it every day.
» What an ending
Firstly, the INO softball tourney was fun. We went undefeated the first day, minimizing our play to two games. The second day, today, we lost the first, won the second, and lost the 3rd. Double elimination sent us home, but we had loads of fun - not just at the game, but at our hotels too. I really need to get around to getting new pictures online! I mean, Monday night, we had went to a Giants game! Barry didn't do anything, but it was still fun to watch some baseball, and KASIE got to come too, seeing that one of our players pulled out at the last minute and we had an extra ticket.

So while I was in the bay area playing the two day In N Out softball tournament, I was also reading HP&DH. Wow, what an ending. For you HP fans, no worries, I won't say anything to spoil anything... I understand! Oi, it was a very intense read. The last few chapters were extremely enlightening about the whole story of Harry Potter. I can't wait to own them all in hard back :-). The deaths in the book were saddening, but hey, whatchu could do?

My sister is reading it right now too. She's toward the end apparently, and will most definitely bawl her eyes out. I had actually reread the first book right before the seventh came out, so believe it or not, I'm reading the second now :-P. Hey, why the hell not? I enjoy it a lot, and now that I've read the seventh, you understand a lot more about what's happening behind the scenes.

Yet tomorrow still comes, and without mercy. Four straight days of clean up... but hey, we gotta eat :-). Honestly, I'm going to read more of HP&CoS, perhaps write out some arpeggios, then once Kasie gets back, go to bed.

Again... what a story the Harry Potter series has been...
» The Deathly Hallows
What can I say? I was there with my younger sister Laura for the official release of HP7. How effing exciting!!!! We got there early, at about 8:30pm and signed in. How it was set up was that everyone was put into groups depending on your registered time. I was in the Silver wrist band group (with Laura one number behind me). With 300 in each group, orange was the first wrist band color. So at 247, I got the 547th copy that night.

Backing up a little, Kasie came along with us, and after a morning of reading the 6th to get in the mind set, we headed off for Borders in Folsom. The ordeal was called "The Grand Hallows Ball," which basically meant there'd be music and free stuff! There was a hillarious Beatles tribute band, btw, which was very good I may add. I saw a lot of old friends there, including Cristina who came in from the bay area! I was quite surprised, and very lucky she was there too, for the whole group we ended up joining were filled with old faces and free snacks, lol!

We also got on TV, which isn't saying we're now celebrities, but it's always fun to see yourself on DVR, Channel 13, holding a golden snitch behind the reporters head and laughing. Good effing times!

So after everyone in the orange group began lining up, we all counted down until 12:01am. The Silvers kinda started lining up too behind them, and after the first 30 or so of the Silvers, the employees announced for the next group (blue) to please get in numerical order, because the numbers were out of whack. When a person exclaimed, "Well why aren't they asking the Silver wrist bands to line up in order?" I replied loudly, "That's because we're already screwed!" To my satisfaction, I got many laughs.

But still, the silvers were ridiculously out of order, and finally Cristina and I asked the soft spoken employee if we could announce, in groups of numerical-ordered tens, for ppl to report to the front of the line. After a few of my "50 through 60!" "60 through 70," the employee finally got the hint and used a speaker-phone to announce it himself. Cristina and I take credit for fixing the chaos.

After we got our books, Laura and I went straight back to my apartment and read til about 5 in the morning. We both finally crashed, though I woke up not more than an hour and a half later to take a shower and read more. Unfortunately, I had to work at 11am, but I still got a fair amount into the book... I am half way through HP7 as I type...

Work was a disaster today. I'll be vague, but my stomach had a wrenching pain, which yielded my dry heaving during my ten. After my bitch ass managers held me longer than I should have stayed -- moving me into different positions thinking I was perhaps overreacting, but they couldn't send me home for it was very busy -- I finally managed to get off decently early, and assumed that fiber would take care of my stomach issues. I know, I know, fyi, but this is a big part of my day!

Long story short, after a few hour nap, I feel a little better, read a lot more, and really wanna go to bed.
» Late Friday Five

The Friday Five ~
1. What sets you apart from your friends?
I actively work to stay in touch and hang the F*** out! Most of my friends are great, but don't always get out much! I'm usually the one who calls and sets up the outting... and of course they always have fun and want to do it again. You'd think they'd be more active!

2. What sets you apart from your family?
I'm the first to do most things, specifically college. I've been at an out of state college, in state JC, and I'll be going to a state college... plus being engaged... Basically, I'm the oldest, and in a great position to excel in life and lead by example. I'm hitting a lot of "firsts."

3. What sets you apart from your coworkers/fellow students?
With coworkers, I'm usually a bit more perky. I'm faster than hell when I apply my full energy, but I usually make sure it's done correctly, pretty anal, and keep a good attitude. Figure this, if I'm pissed at work, something bad must have happened :P
Regarding fellow students, I study very well, able to learn just about all material, and do well when I completely apply myself. I say that because I'm notorious for procrastinating, but hey, I guess that's what "sets me closer" to them :-)

4. What is the one thing about you that is most unique?
I can read people extremely well. Perhaps it is from being around customers, or intermingling with band students, clubs... whatever it is, I can generally read what kind of person they are, and what kind of conversation they'd most respond to; to the point, joking, or random.

5. What is your most interesting quality?
The ability to make nearly anything happen when I set my mind to it. Trips, school, outtings, or any goal for that matter. If I put my mind to it, I can accomplish anything... not to steal a quote from Back to the Future or anything :-P

» holy cow
To say that I haven't updated in a while would be an understatement. Let's say I've been hella busy.

I'll try to sum things up, since there's so much to write that I'd hurt my hand typing.

Just came back from a 5 day trip in Pismo from July 1-5. Twas awesome. The fog rolled in the night of the fourth, but the illegal fireworks going off all around were fantastic regardless. This Friday-Sun is the "Beach Bash" in San Diego; basically a mini family reunion, which is always hella fun. Can't wait to boogie board! A week and a half after that, I have a two day In-N-Out softball tournament somewhere in the valley-ish. That next week is then 5 days of band camp which I'll be helping with. THEN! On August 11th, DCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN PASADENA, CA!!! Yes, I'll effing be there. Kasie, Christian, and I will be going down sporting our Blue Devils T-shirts and having an effing blast.

Other than that, I have some bills and a ticket to take care of, but I guess all is well. Ok, I gotta make sure I keep up!

The Friday Five ~
1. Do you download music not from the popular genres of Top 40, pop, rock, rap, dance, R&B, or country?
Definitely yes. Jazz and marching bands.

2. Are there any musicians for whom you’ve downloaded a significant amount of their material yet own few or none of their albums?
Perhaps John Faddis or Rafael Mendez. I really look forward to owning their albums.

3. Have you ever enjoyed a downloaded album so much that you went and bought the physical album?
Well, I haven’t downloaded an entire album. But I would say that in general, I bought the Daughtry album in this way.

4. How many different ways of playing music do you own (such as radio, stereo system, computer, Walkman/Discman, mp3 player, mp3-ready phone, etc.)?
All of the above except the mp3-ready phone.

5. Do you still have and/or play a favorite vinyl album, cassette tape, or 8-track tape?
Chumbawumba on cassette... ah the memories

» Ah yeuh
We're having some friends come over tonight to hang out. Tonight I have to work from like 5-9pm, but it's all good. It'll be over pretty quick, then i'll get back and chill. Ok, I'm going to leave and eat because I am hungry and that is what hungry people do...
» Saturday, but actually Sunday morning 5?

The Friday Five ~
1. Name one really bizarre thing you know how to do. No matter how small.
Meh, I can't say I know any tricks. Sounds dull, but I usually know how to read people. Perhaps it's because I've dealt with family problems, a long term relationship, and customer service. But generally speaking, a person conveys their thoughts through their eyes and body language. Ask Kasie, she'll back this one up. I usually pick her thoughts "right out of her head."

2. What’s your favorite way to pass the time?
Going onto the computer to surf the net, work out my schedules, and keep in touch.

3. What’s your favorite restaurant and why?
Yoshi's Jazz and Sushi. Hey, the have a jazz club!

4. Which TV/Radio show did you like that’s not aired any more?
Who's Line is it Anyways? the American version. Drew Carrey tried to venture out doing the "Green Screen" or whatever it was called. I miss the good ol' Who's Line.

5. If you had a choice of learning another new language, what would you choose? what do you think that reflects about you?
I still want to learn Spanish. I understand the basics, but I am out of practice and really want to be fluent.

Kasie comes back from New York today at around 11am. I've missed her a lot, so I look forward to seeing her after a week.

1. You're holding a dinner party and can invite three famous people from the past or present; who would they be?
Louis Armstrong, Jesus of Nazareth, and I'm not sure of the 3rd.

2. You have the opportunity to question someone about something you've always wanted to know and receive a truthful answer; what would your question be?

Does God and the "afterlife" exist?

3. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?

Act out my aspirations more often, rather than think of them. Example, practice trumpet, research music, learn new instruments, work out, be articulate in arriving... A lot of this has to do with straight doing it, which isn't a problem -- it's more of the characteristics from these actions I'd like to work on.

4. If you could save other people's lives by completing an act that would lead to your own death, would you do it?

What exactly are we talking about here? I think about this often, but there's always some catch. "I'll kill you and spare your family" kind of thing... if they're holding a gun to you, chances are -- they aren't good by their word. However, rhetorically speaking, of course. It would suggestively be the right thing for anyone to do.

5. Would you commit murder if you knew that you could get away with it?

No.

I'm very sorry for not updating much recently. There has been a hell of a lot of things. OI! I'm trying to think of everything that is happened, and kind of tie it all up briefly. I went to a Sacramento RiverCats game with Kasie a few Saturdays ago. It was way fun during the game, even though they lost, and enjoyed the fireworks at the end.

Um, finals were nice. I pulled off straight A's this semester (hell yes) and my next semester is looking very exciting as well. I'll be taking Anthropology, Political Science, English, Communications, and Beginning Guitar. It's a good 14 units; more than last semester's 9 units. I was able to consolidate all my classes onto Monday and Wednesday, with the exception of a late Thursday night guitar class. It was interesting figuring out my schedule, because I've got to balance school, work, helping UM band, and sanity of course :-P. I had talked to my boss about what my original school schedule would be, and in trying to help out the band (and going to Tuesday night practices and band reviews), and there was major conflict in how I would be able to attain hours.

Ok ok, long story short. I'm still available for 40 hours, and helping out band two days and one night a week. How nice! I talked to the UM band director, Ali, about how often I'll be helping out. I'm probably going to be working with the brass a lot, and hey -- even jazz band in the mornings :-P. This marching season is looking very exciting. I'll post more on this later.

As a side note... I'm watching Little Shop of Horrors right now, which I've never seen before. Especially as a music major... this movie is a must.

... I just finished the movie. Great movie.
